Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any response under its own practices. Taylor County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept for as long as needed to answer it. We do not disclose that correspondence outside the organization unless applicable law or a valid legal demand requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive ordinary technical and usage details, including:
- Timestamps for each page view
- The referring site, when one is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The IP address used by the device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages receive visits and where a browsing session ends. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Taylor County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material identifies how to request Taylor County records from Sheriff Data Records, the Clerk of Circuit Court, the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau, and the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes shown on this site. Information submitted through a box is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner decides how it retains, uses, or shares submitted data, and those decisions are outside our control. Read the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Taylor County departments, Wisconsin court or agency services, legal resources, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's policy applies. Review its terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to observe activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking does not occur under our direct control.

Rights may vary with the law that applies to a visitor. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs records held by public authorities and does not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Wis. Stat. § 165.83 governs criminal-identification reporting and dissemination functions of the Wisconsin Department of Justice, not this site's visitor analytics. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data held by this site
- Ask what personal information is on file about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Object to or opt out of processing where the governing law provides that choice
